Island Park Project Gearing Up

Plans are moving forward, applications have been submitted and funds are secured for the first phase of Danford Island Park.  A Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant and a generous donation from George Danford Jr. will make this dream a reality in 2013.  Planned park improvements include a permanent bridge to the island, parking, paths to the river, an accessible canoe launch and an overlook.  Fundraising efforts will continue for future development on the island (pathways, historical markers, a pavilion, an overlook, etc.) and donations can be made to the Village of Dimondale.  It's taken a village and a couple of decades to bring this plan to life and we still have a way to go.  Public access to the Grand River is a priority in the Recreation

Master Plan and Danford Island Park is the next step in our plan to bring residents and visitors in touch with this precious natural resource.

West Washington To Get a Lift

In coordination with the Island Park improvements, West Washington Street will receive a much needed facelift.  Reconstruction of the road and drainage improvements will comprise the bulk of this work.  Stay tuned for more information on both projects.

Join us on Opening Day to Celebrate!

On June 6th we'll be celebrating the start of our 6th year!

It's our birthday and you won't want to miss the fun!

We'll have special guests (like the Eaton County Humane Society), and free treats (think cake), and special activities for kids, and a Plant Sale (flowers, herbs, heirloom seedlings and the Eaton Conservation District with native plants) and at least a dozen vendors with locally grown and made food products!

It's Pure Michigan at the Dimondale Farmers' Market!

Community Pride Day - May 18th

We need you - to join us in a community clean-up and planting.  We'll start at 10 am on the 18th and work locations will be posted at the Village Office.  This year we're looking for budding naturalists to aid in the war against invasive species (enemy number one = garlic mustard).  Training on plant identification and management will be offered at 10 am at the end of West Washington Street.  Consider becoming a friend of the park and taking an active role in protecting our natural spaces - take pride in your home town!
